Take that Holocaust Deniers!

Mitch Potter:

The Nazi system of camps and ghettos was a dark universe more than four times more extensive and complex than previously thought, according to new research coming to light under the guidance of Washington’s Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies…

“When this project began more than 10 years ago, it was estimated the Nazis established about 5,000 sites. But a lot of people had been working in their own little corners and nobody had added up the numbers, which we know now to be at least 20,000,” said project director Geoffrey Megargee.

“The size, scope and sheer variety of experiences that was possible came as a surprise. And what we’re getting from it is a much more sophisticated understanding of how the camp system worked.”

It’s Hard to Work with a Government that is Uncaring and Incompetent

Where is the leadership in Ottawa?

…Don’t take us for granted and don’t shut us out of our markets.

…You can’t count on a government if it can’t count. You can’t trust a government that can’t count…

We cannot leave a legacy of deficit for our children and our grandchildren.

Canadian Lawyer on Online Client Development

Glenn Kauth of Canadian Lawyer magazine mentioned Omar Ha-Redeye in the current June 2009 issue,

Even law students are using the Twitter-blog combination to get their names out there and position themselves in the field. Omar Ha-Redeye, a second-year student at the University of Western Ontario law school, has garnered a lot of attention through his blog as well as through the web sites Law is Cool and Slaw, too, which he says is already benefiting him as he develops a reputation well before he graduates. “I have lots of informal mentorships with lots of lawyers practising in the field.”

The article also interviewed Erik Magraken of MacIsaac & Co, Deborah Glendinning of Osler Hoskin & Harcourt LLP, Rick Powers of the Rotman School of Management, Simone Hughes at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP, Michael Rabinovici of AR Communications Inc, Dan Michaluk and Susan Carnevale of Hicks Morley Hamilton Stewart Storie LLP, Michael Rynowecer of BTI Consulting Group Inc., and David Diamond of Diamond & Diamond Lawyers.

A review of the piece by Omar Ha-Redeye can be found on Slaw.

The book is the first of its kind, in that a judge is seeking to educate the public about some of the basics of family law, and what they can expect from the judicial system.

Justice Brownstone was the first openly gay judge appointed in Canada, and regularly conducts media interviews to create greater awareness about legal issues.  He also answers legal questions for the public for free on Advice Scene.

Justice Brownstone strongly recommended that couples avoid legal proceedings for their own benefit, and that of their children, and attempt to resolve things by themselves.  He generously donated all proceeds from his book to the Children’s Wish Foundation.

The event was hosted by the John Howard Society.

Canadian Idol winner and Hamilton Resident, Brian Melo, was also on hand, and did a small performance for those who were present.
