Top 10 in Labour Law, Collective Bargaining

The working paper, The Race to Identity Conflicts in the Workplace: Restructuring the Adversarial Nature of Labour Law for a More Inclusive Environment made the top 10 list for most downloaded papers on SSRN for Collective Bargaining and Labour & Employment Law.




OBA 2010 Awards Gala

The Ontario Bar Association (OBA) held its annual Awards Gala at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Toronto.

The OBA’s Award for Distinguished Service went to Steven F. Rosenhek of Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP, Dianne Saxe of Dianne Saxe Professional Corporation, and Jonathan Speigel of Speigel Nichols Fox LLP.

The OBA’s Linda Adlam Manning Award went to Audrey P. Ramsay of Withrow & Associates.

The OBA’s President’s Award went to Hon. R. Roy McMurtry, OC, O.Ont, Q.C., of Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP.

The Hon. Chris Bentley, Attorney General presented the Mundell Medal for Legal Writing to Professor Brenda Cossman of the University of Toronto and William Kaplan, Barrister & Solicitor.

Western Hosts Scriptural Reasoning

The Centre for Abrahamic Religions at Huron College is hosting a Scriptural Reasoning conference at the University of Western Ontario. The school is part of the Diocese of Huron.

Omar Ha-Redeye is slated as a teacher for the session.




The Lawyers Climbed Up the Mountain

The lawyers of Borden, Ladner, Gervais LLP are climbing up the mountain of Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro, for a charity project.

CCCA Greater Toronto Chapter AGM

The CCCA Greater Toronto Chapter of the Ontario Bar Association hosted the Annual General Meeting, “The view from 2,000 feet.”

The event consisted of a behind the scenes tour of the CN Tower, followed by dinner at Horizons RestaurantRichard Stock of Catalyst Consulting spoke on “Effective Workflow and Workload Management.”

The event was hosted by Fasken Martineau Dumoulin LLP.

This issue is really about ensuring the best health care for Canadians and pursuing cutting-edge research to assist this worthy goal. We’re good at the isotopes business, actually very good. The expert panel issued a challenge to the federal government to lead. Leadership requires courage and a coherent view of the future that integrates the demands of the health-care system with the promise of a robust supply of isotopes.

Other countries have made isotopes a key priority, including the Dutch, the Belgians, the South Africans and the Australians. If they can take bold actions, why won’t Canada?
