Solo Practice University: Reputation Management Law

reputation management law at solo practice university

Omar Ha-Redeye is teaching a course this term on Reputation Management Law at Solo Practice University.

Law school teaches lawyers about substantive law.  It doesn’t necessarily prepare them for practice.  Lawyers need to be aware of online reputation, both for their own practice, and the impact on their services for clients.  Solo Practice University provides small and solo lawyers the skills they need to enhance their practice.

Reputation management law is the intersection of public relations and the legal practice.  Omar Ha-Redeye will share what he’s learned from his communications career prior to law and help demonstrate why this matters. He’ll also cover some of the emerging inter-jurisdictional issues, and facilitate discussions over what lawyers can do pre-emptively and how they should respond to crises.

Solo Practice University: Savvy Solos

Omar Ha-Redeye gave a guest talk at Solo Practice University with Susan Cartier Liebel.

Social Media is amazing for meeting fascinating people.  Over these past few years I’ve had the opportunity to connect with Omar Ha-Redeye through our mutual blogging and then increasingly through Twitter.  Omar and I recently went from online to offline and got to know each other a little better. It was then I learned of  his truly interesting background as well as the practice area he teaches while he grows his solo practice in Canada – Geographic Information Services law. GIS is something we all use everyday but don’t fully appreciate.  In today’s conversation we will discuss two topics: GIS law and how teaching what you know can really grow your solo practice.

Omar Ha-Redeye is a Toronto lawyer focusing on health law (personal injury, medical malpractice, occupational health and safety, health policy) and reputation management (online defamation, crisis communications, public relations).

He is a graduate (Juris Doctor) of the law program at the University of Western Ontario.  He teaches law and ethics at Ryerson University as an Adjunct Faculty member.  He currently sits on the Ontario Bar Association as the Vice-Chair of the Young Lawyers Division.

Omar is a core contributor to Slaw , Canada’s premiere online legal resource, The Lawyers Weekly, and is frequently contacted by the media for his areas of expertise.

The audio is about 35 minutes. Listen or download directly below.
