Prof. Jeremy Waldron of NYU Law spoke at UWO Law on Nov. 12 and 13.
First, he spoke at the 2009 Coxford Lecture, “Cruel, Inhuman and Degrading Treatment: The Words Themselves”. Kamila Pizon describes the talk on the school’s website.
On Nov. 13, he spoke to law students in a public law class on “The Core of the Case Against Judicial Review.”
The International Law Association hosted Pablo Villeda, Field Office Director of Guatemala for International Justice Mission. Villeda works with Guatemalan authorities to investigate and prosecute cases of sexual violence.
He received a J.D. from Universidad Rafael Landivar in Guatemala, where he is currently a professor, and has worked as an attorney with a focus on family law and contract dispute.
The World Association for Disaster and Emergency Medicine has posted pictures from the 2009 conference in Victoria, B.C.

Omar Ha-Redeye will be participating in a study abroad program held at Bar Ilan University in Ramat Gan, Israel.
He will be studying the following topics:
The university is one of the few law schools that have a kollel on campus.
Omar Ha-Redeye presented at the 2009 World Congress on Disaster and Emergency Medicine on A New Ethical Model for Examining Emergency Medicine.
A discussion followed between Dr. Peleg of Israel, who advocated a strictly utilitarian approach to emergency medicine, and Omar Ha-Redeye, who pointed out numerous exceptions where this approach had shortcomings.

Omar Ha-Redeye was part of a delegation from UWO that presented at the 53 Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations on Efforts by Canadian Organizations to Help Reduce the Social Impact of HIV/AIDS.
